Creative Ways to Appreciate your Dad this Father’s Day

Father’s Day is a time to pause and acknowledge the fathers in our lives. Whether they be our own fathers, our grandfathers, or the fathers of our children. These gentlemen deserve to be appreciated for stepping into the complex, pressured role of being a dad. There are many ways you can show appreciation to the father figures in your life other than simply giving them a gift.

Our dad’s do a lot for us. From taking us to school, to helping put oil in our cars, to picking us up from parties when we were teenagers, to guiding us through our adulthood. We would likely not be the same person without our fathers.

We have gathered some creative ideas to show appreciation to your dad, or the father figure in your life.

Spend Quality Time

Quality time is a notable love language. We can nurture this love language on Father’s Day. Arrange a coffee, or a dinner, or a walk together through the park or along the beach. Take the time to listen to him talk or tell stories… even if he repeats one you have heard before! Bonding over a rich, earthy coffee or a hearty meal is a great way to spend time together. Or take him outside to soak in the sunlight and fresh air. Quality time will help him feel appreciated by showing you want to be with him, and that you enjoy his company.

Send him an Angel Delivery.

With more and more of us living away from our families, it can be difficult to see your dad or grandad in person. Luckily, Angel Delivery is a great solution. You can send your father a care package or food hamper filled with goodies and meals, like our new Father's Day Dinner for Dad package. This is a great way to show your appreciation by providing meals for him, even if you can't be there to cook it yourself. It’s a good way to remind him you are thinking of him. You can even include a personalised note in the delivery.

Recommend an article or a book.

You could email dad or grandad a link to the article, or even mail them a copy of the book. Sending them an informative or engaging piece of literature on a subject that interests them is a great way to show your appreciation for them. Recommending something related to their interests will show them you listen to them.

Engage in an activity your dad enjoys, with him!

Whether he enjoys fishing, playing chess, or gardening, partake in his favourite activity with him. It will show him you appreciate his interests and will also be a great way to spend time with him. He would likely enjoy showing you the ropes of his favourite activity as well.

Create a photo album.

You could put together a photo album of your childhood, and more recent photos of you and your dad. This would be a meaningful way to walk down memory lane, share stories and a laugh. They can also hold onto the album. It can be a great way to boost his mood or put a smile on his face any time he needs it.
